URB597

Pharmacology

(Needs more info...)

URB597 is a relatively selective and lating ('irreversible') inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH). Individuals born without FAAH have been found to be completely without pain, which has made FAAH an interest as an analgesic target.

At high doses, URB597 can potentially cause emesis and anhedonia through CB1 and offtargets, so lower doses are likely more attractive if used clinically. Around 4mg seems to be tolerable, but it should be mentioned URB597 is experimental, so complete safety is still not known.
