Details
Centrosomal microtubles (MTs) ensure the pericentrosomal location (around the centrosome) of the Golgi Apperatus (GA), whereas Golgi-nucleated MTs are responsible for Golgi ribbon integrity.
Golgi outpost-associated MT nucleation regulates distal dendritic branching and is critical for terminal branch stabilization. It is worth mentioning that Golgi outposts are absent in the axon, which is a long primary branch with uniform MT polarity.
Enhancing microtuble nucleation via golgi-related proteins via something like PDE4DIP (myomegalin), CDK5rap2 or AKAP450 most likely enhances pyramidal cell dendritic branching, which is very relevant for cognition.
